Q: How do I make the headpiece fit better?
A: A lot of dancers use peel and stick weather-stripping foam (for windows or doors, found at a local hardware store). You can place this foam rubber inside the headband until you have a perfect, comfortable fit! Some gals also glue felt inside the band, for a more permanent comfort solution.

Q: What do I do if I am performing at a venue where I cannot have open-flame, but I still want to use my Shamadan?
A: We have seen dancers use holographic mylar in the shape of flames attached to unlit candles with toothpicks. This may sound a bit strange, but with stage lighting, the effect is quite realistic. You can find this mylar as wrapping paper in most card shops, or just about anywhere during the Holidays. This is also a great tip for practice, as you will want to get used to the weight and balance of your Shamadan when it is holding candles.

Q: How do I keep my Shamadan tarnish-free?
A: We recommend that you wipe it down after each performance with a soft cloth, and if it does tarnish, use a jewelers' rouge cloth, or a gentle jewelry polish to clean it.
